Description
Tom Cruise stars in this sci-fi action thriller directed by Steven Spielberg. Ray Ferrier (Cruise) is looking after his two children – teenager Robbie (Justin Chatwin) and precocious ten-year-old Rachel (Dakota Fanning) – while his ex-wife Mary (Miranda Otto) visits Boston for the weekend. After violent electrical storms start occurring across the world, Ray witnesses a huge armoured machine break out of the ground and start laying waste to everything in its path. Fleeing New Jersey with his children, Ray begins a dangerous journey through an America gripped by panic as the alien war machines start to wipe out mankind. While the hot-headed Robbie soon leaves, determined to join the fight back against the invaders, Ray is desperate to reunite Rachel with her mother. On the way he is forced to take shelter with paranoid survivor Harlan Ogilvy (Tim Robbins), whose gradual breakdown threatens to reveal the hidden family to the aliens nearby…
