Van Houten emerge from the burgeoning alternative indie landscape of Leeds to continue the city’s rich recent tradition of incredible guitar bands. Crafting their own blend of lo-fi indie, psych rock, shoegaze and garage rock, they’ve pitted a distinct ’90s alternative sound against true pop sensibilities. ‘The Tallest Room’ is the band’s debut album. Lead single ‘Coming Of Age’ cloaked lyrical depth and self-reflection in a stunningly hooky pop song leading to hype building around the release from BBC 6Music, So Young, Wonderland and more.
