His fabrications allow him to seduce girls and borrow money seemingly endless amounts of money from friends, family and complete strangers. But lying about the death of his brother lands him in hot water. Can he curb his compulsion for pathological lying? ‘The Liar’ and the bonus short film ‘Jackpot 2’, are the first two films from writer Aki Kaurismaki and director Mika Kaurismaki, brim with the raw talent and brilliance that later paid off in Aki’s ‘Leningrad Cowboys Go America’ and Mika’s ‘Zombie and the Ghost Train’. Also included on the disc are an interview with and a biography of the director, Mika Kaurismaki.
