Description
Daniel Taradash directs this 1950s drama starring Bette Davis. Widowed librarian Alicia Hull (Davis) spends her days trying to encourage local children to enjoy reading. When she requests the installation of a designated children’s wing at the library, the council agree, but only if she removes a book promoting Communism from the shelves. Faced with the censorship, Alicia refuses to comply and is subsequently fired, but when the rest of the town rally around her, the council soon have a fight on their hands.
