The Natural (RSD 2020)

Description

‘The Natural’ is the stunning soundtrack film score to the film of the same title. The score is revered amongst film music fans demonstrating influence from the likes of Copland and Bernstein and utilising Leitmotif throughout portraying an almost Wagnerian influence. The main theme is instantly recognisable and proves Randy Newman’s ability to create a moving and sublime musical accompaniment to an equally beautiful film.
Original score composed and conducted by Randy Newman. ‘Once again, Randy Newman turns out to be a good choice for scoring a period picture, this time with a more overtly sentimental, romantic theme than Ragtime. He shows a mastery of structure and genre that marks him as the successor to his uncles, who spent decades writing film music’. – William Ruhlmann
