NOW BURNS BLUE

Description

When the past dictates each step forward, what does it take to find your way back to the love of your life? Afia and Frank are young, Black, determined to change the world – and deeply in love. But when their precious bond is shattered, they soon take divergent paths. Lawyer Frank is about to realise his dream of fighting inequality from within the justice system. Artist Afia believes the only route to a fairer world is to fight the system itself. As Carnival weekend nears during a simmering London summer, fate tempts them close once again. But it’s not just Frank and Afia enmeshed in this potent social mix. And the unwitting consequences of their reunion threaten to change their and their loved ones’ lives forever. Tender, intelligent, compelling and often hilarious, Cenac Rollins’ Now Burns Blue is a standout debut fuelled by south London energy that’s set to ignite heated conversations in the city and beyond this summer.
