La Vie Jamais Racontee: Alice Milliat, a French Heroine and Sporting Suffragette

Description

La Vie Jamais Racontée is the story of sporting suffragette Alice Milliat, and a captivating exploration of a forgotten pioneer of women”s sport.

In an era when women”s sport is gaining well-deserved recognition, Milliat”s work remains largely unknown, yet she played a crucial role in advancing its cause.

Born in 1884, Milliat fearlessly fought against societal barriers, orchestrating four editions of the Women”s World Games and establishing a French women”s football team that toured the UK.

Milliat relentlessly lobbied for the inclusion of women”s athletics at the Olympics, and although she was ultimately successful, her victory proved bittersweet. Instead of being lauded, she was sidelined and faded from public view.

This book sheds light on Milliat”s extraordinary life and celebrates the sportswomen she elevated during the early 20th century. With her story finally told, her invaluable contributions can be rediscovered and celebrated afresh. Hopefully, they”ll inspire a new generation to champion women”s sport.
