BBE Music’s J Jazz Masterclass series reissues the live album from the Aki Takase Trio, which the Japanese pianist recorded with drummer Takeo Moriyama and bassist Nobuyoshi Ino in 1982. Recorded the previous November at the Berlin Jazz Festival, ‘Song For Hope’ is a wonderful document of a golden age for jazz in Japan, paying tribute to the American greats of post-bop but taking things in an original new direction.
