Description
‘When I first moved to L.A. My music mentor gave me 10,000$ to quit my job and do music full time . Somehow I stretched the money to cover almost two years while recording my first album. I used to pull my janky Acura Legend into his driveway and hope that my music would one day pay for something in his house, a fancy chair or something hanging on his wall. There was this telephone in his studio in East L.A. that when you picked it up would sound like the streets: cars zooming by, people chattering etc and when we would finish a song we thought was hot he would say: ‘pick up the phone, the streets are calling!’ Turned out it was an intercom attached to the front of the building, facing the street’.
