Description
This is the most essential Stereolab album as it contains all the early and classic singles which would set you back an arm and a leg on Discogs. Lead by Laetitia Sadier’s coolly sophisticated, Nico-meets-Francoise hardy vocals, ‘Switched On’ is more guitar-driven and rock-oriented than the bands later work, and tracks like ‘Super-Electric’ and ‘Au Grand Jour’ prove that Stereolab’s basic style – krautrock lock-grooves, bubbling analog synths, fuzzed out guitars and angelic vocals – manages to be poppy, kinetick, and bittersweet all at once.
